London Stock Exchange glitch delays market open

Trading on the London Stock Exchange was delayed as a technical glitch affected share price data on Thursday morning.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index was not showing any prices after the usual opening time of 0800, with prices in mid-cap and small cap shares also still failing to show until 0900 BST.

After the key opening auction took place an hour late, an LSE spokesperson said the process was delayed "due to a technical issue that has been resolved".

"LSE issues - no trading this AM," said one frustrated trader earlier. "There are no prices," moaned another, "it has not opened!"

This follows other technical issues for the LSE in April, where the regulatory news service was twice reduced to a dribble in the key first hour of trading.
