Gama Aviation appoints experienced head of finance

Business aviation services firm Gama Aviation announced on Wednesday that it has appointed David Strickland as chief financial officer, effective 1 September, after an "extensive search process".
The AIM-traded company said that Strickland, who was chief financial officer services company Addison Lee Group during its international expansion, has financial and international operational experience from previous roles in the transport and service sector.

This includes roles at Serco Plc, Avis Europe Plc, Eversholt Rail Group and LeasePlan UK Limited.

Ralph Robbins, chairman of Gama Aviation Plc, said: "In the view of the board we have made an excellent appointment in David. His diverse service sector background, experience of financially managing growth and proven ability to build value internationally, adds another dimension to our already strong executive team."

Strickland qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse and currently holds 35 directorships at companies including Eventech, Addison Lee and Flyte Tyme Holdings.

Commenting on the appointment, Marwan Khalek, chief executive of Gama Aviation, said: "He joins the group at a strategically important time as we accelerate our strategy, via our recent £48m equity placing, to become the global market leader in business aviation services. He brings a strong financial background in ambitious, international, service-led organisations."

As of 0913 BST, Gama Aviation's shares were up 0.23% at 216.50p.
