SolGold unearths high grade gold mineralisation in Ecuador

Copper and gold exploration company SolGold has identified high grade gold mineralisation at its wholly-owned project in Ecuador, the company announced on Tuesday.
The high grade epithermal style gold mineralisation was detected at the Blanca Nieves project in the north of Ecuador, with rock chip samples from the site including 79.2 gold per tonne of ore and 59 g/t.

The structure has been interpreted as a 10km long north west trending structural corridor which links the Nieves and Blanca concessions, immediately to the north of the Cascabel concession which hosts SolGold's flagship copper-gold project.

These results stem from the first a batch of 41 rock chip samples, with 38 rock chip samples, 192 sediment samples and 112 panned heavy concentrate samples yet to yield assay results from work at ALS Laboratories in Lima, Peru.

In a statement, SolGold said: "The Blanca Nieves epithermal gold veins are situated in a previously unrecognised corridor of gold mineralisation highlighting once again the under explored potential of the Ecuadorean section of the Andean copper-gold belt."

Further incoming assays will help to direct exploration activities as the company seeks to further understand the "extent and nature" of the interpreted mineralisation.

As of 1614 GMT, SolGold's shares were down 3.08% at 22.00p.
