Microsaic Systems secures product agreement for China market

Chip based technology company Microsaic Systems announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement for a new product development with Unimicro Technologies.
Microsaic's compact 4500 MiD mass spectrometry detector will be integrated with Unimicro's capillary electrophoresis (CE) platform, with the combined product to be sold in China via Unimicro's distribution network.

Mass spectrometry is used to quantify materials, identify compounds within a sample and to understand the structure and chemical properties of different molecules, used in biology, chemistry, and physics, but also in clinical medicine and even space exploration. The 4500 MiD, which is Microsaic's core product, is a compact mass spectrometry system which retains the functionality of larger systems, is simple to use, consumes less energy than other units and has lower running costs.

Glenn Tracey, chief executive of Microsaic Systems, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Unimicro, to extend our compact mass spectrometry technology into China. Unimicro's CE products are the perfect combination for our newly launched 4500 MiD, targeting a wide range of applications in chemical and biological separation and detection."

Dr Li, vice president of Unimicro, said: "Our fully automated CE system demonstrates nano-CE capability with accuracy, performance, stability and repeatability, all in one easy-to-use platform. The integration of Microsaic's nano-flow Electro-Spray Ionisation technology is the perfect match, and the 4500 MiD is truly an all-in-one, compact system."

As of 0907 BST, Microsaic Systems' shares were up 13.90% at 2.33p.
