Coro Energy appoints James Menzies as new chief executive

AIM-listed gas explorer Coro Energy has appointed James Menzies to be its new chief executive officer, effective immediately, following previous boss Sara Edmonson's decision to step back into a deputy role.
While Edmonson will give up the top job to Menzies, she will remain with the firm as both a member of its board and as its deputy chief executive.

Menzies is a specialist South East Asian explorer who founded Salamander Energy, where he served as chief executive for ten years before selling to Ophir Energy for $850m back in 2015.

James Parsons, chairman of Coro, said, "I am very pleased to welcome James to the board of Coro at this exciting time as we look to enter South East Asia and accelerate towards establishing ourselves as a leading regional gas player."

"James's prior engagements in South East Asia, deep local knowledge and in-country connectivity are invaluable assets we will deploy to drive shareholder value," Parsons added.

As of 0900 BST, Coro Energy shares had been dialed back 0.13% to 3.82p.
