Concurrent Technologies releases rugged processor board with Ezio

Computer product developer and manufacturer Concurrent Technologies announced a new immediately available product on Tuesday in collaboration with Ezio Rugged Solutions.
The collaboration between the two companies has spawned the BA 9TR/301 processor board which "combines a high performance Eizo Rugged Solutions general-purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU)" and a central processing unit (CPU) board from Concurrent.

The processors are housed in a ruggedized, conduction cooled frame to allow for operation within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

Concurrent chief executive Glen Fawcett said: "By matching our experience in designing best in class Intel processor based boards with Eizo Rugged Solutions' long standing GPGPU capabilities, we can provide an innovative solution for high computational performance within a very small space envelope. BA 9TR/301 is designed for rugged applications and is available to order today."

The product is particularly suitable for image analysis, with possible applications onboard reconnaissance aircraft, or geological analysis or cryptocurrency mining.

Selwyn Henriques, of Ezio, said: "We have been a pioneer in providing video, graphics, encoding and recording solutions for nearly three decades. Responsiveness has been the key to our success and this combined product was conceived to meet customer needs for better GPGPU capability with the addition of a CPU management engine all within a single slot."

Concurrent typically develops high-end computing products for long life cycle applications within the aerospace, telecommunications, defence, security, telemetry and scientific markets.

As of 1646 BST, Concurrent Technologies' shares were up 3.16% at 78.40p.
