Malvern strikes deal with University of East London

(WebFG News) - Learning and skills development company Malvern International announced a partnership agreement with the University of East London (UEL) on Wednesday, which would see Malvern established as an embedded college within UEL, delivering pre-sessional foundation and English language courses for international students at both degree and masters levels.
The AIM-traded firm said the courses would develop the students' English language skills, and prepare them academically for university-level study; initially at undergraduate level but with pre-masters programmes due to come on stream in 2019.

Students taking the pathway course would be fully enrolled as UEL students, giving them the benefit of on-campus accommodation and access to all university facilities and services.

In addition to the full foundation course, Malvern and UEL were working together to provide flexible-duration English as a second language (ESL) courses for pre-undergraduate and pre-masters students.

The new partnership between UEL and Malvern House was expected to benefit both colleges, acting as an enhanced distributor of Malvern courses, whilst giving UEL improved access to student markets in South East Asia where Malvern remained a well-known and trusted brand.

"This partnership with University of East London is a good example of the collaborations being targeted by the group in pursuit of its growth strategy, giving both parties complementary benefits," said Malvern chief executive Sam Malafeh.

"These pathway courses will enable international students to reach their goal of enrolling on a university degree."

Malafeh said it would achieve that by delivering high-quality English language support and a carefully crafted International Foundation Programme.

"This tailored support is expected to benefit over 4,000 students in the next 10 years.

"It will also enable Malvern to establish a strong long term partnership with UEL in London, contributing to Malvern's strategic objective of being regarded as a centre of excellence."
